Maths teaching aims to  promote and develop mathematical fluency and encourage positive attitudes towards mathematical learning throughout life.

The teaching approach is focusing on maths in real life situations, with a strong emphasis on problem solving using numeracy, measurement and statistical skills.

Generally students are regrouped for maths to facilitate catering for individual needs.

Students are encouraged to demonstrate their skills through participation in local, national and international events such as Nelsomathix, Otago Problem Solving Challenge and the Australasian Maths Competition.
