The English programme aims to develop the ability to be effective communicators.

Our teaching and learning strategies are aimed at developing fluent language use.

Waimea Intermediate offers school-wide and inter-school speech and poetry competitions.  We support Australasian English and Writing examinations. Focus is also given to writing workshops, the Authors In Schools incentive and literary competitions.
There is a new well-resourced library with a full time librarian available to assist students.
