At first I was nervous about starting Waimea intermedaite.  i had come from a small school of 89 pupils to an entirely new school with 600. But as I walked into my new class on the first day i knew that everyone else felt the same way, even the teachers.

before long these opprtunities came my way: poetry and speech competitions, winter and summer tournaments, extension technolgy. camps and lods of sports experiences.

I ahve learned heaps at waimea, but not just in lessons in class.  we have modules and we get to pick three every eight weeks.  There is a variety of things to choose from like kapahaka, scrapbooking, drama, foods around the world and heaps of languages.

So, my advice to you is don't be afraid to take risks and enjoy Waimea Intermediate while you're here.

So many awsome opportunities are offered a Waimea, and this is the time to try all things new.

Have you ever fancied yourself as a musician?
I came to Waimea thinking it was too late for me to learn a musical instrument but I gave 'keyboard' a go and now I'm on  my second year and really enjoying it.  What about giving unicycling a go? (A WIS speciality!).  Or can you see yourself a sports star, representing your school in red and black?  Whatever you're into (even if you don't know what you are into yet) this school has something for you.

Intermediate is unique and it only lasts for two years, so unless you make the most of every single moment, it will be over before you know it.

One of the big differences I found comparing Primary to Intermediate was that teachers trust you and they treat you more like a responsible young person instead of a child.

Enjoy your time at waimea.  remember you have nothing to worry about and you will be just like me when you're a year 8, loving intermediate, but totally ready for the challenges college is going to bring.
