Waimea Intermediate provides a caring environment where students are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential through excellence in teaching and learning. Our focus is on academic development and the personal, social, emotional and physical growth of the whole student.
We offer a modern curriculum using a range of instructional and organisational techniques to cater for students of all ability levels. We combine homeroom, specialist and semi-specialist teaching to provide varied and challenging opportunities for students.

Our dedicated staff work in highly effective teams to ensure quality learning opportunities ofr all students. They value open communication between home and school.

This school has a strong focus on self-review and development.  We regularly review our programmes and approaches to meet the needs of students for a changing world. The strategic plan is updated annually.

Waimea Intermediate is unique in being one of the few semi-rural intermediates and is situated in a large campus environment with Henley Primary and Waimea College sharing expansive grounds and excellent facilities. Our contributing primary schools are; Appleby, Brightwater, Henley, Hope, Ranzau, Richmond and Wakefield. A new enrolment scheme applies to out of zone enrolments.  Details are outlined in the prospectus and copies can be obtained from the office or our website.
Major property developments have resulted in many classrooms being extended and refurbished, a significant playground development and an excellent large modern library.  Our school wide computer network is part of the LOOP and has at least four computers and a data projector in each room as well as a full computer suite, roving laptops and other digital resources.
We believe that the time a student spends at Waimea Intermediate will be a very rewarding and enjoyable period of their education.
